Family Resources

Navigating family law matters can be complex, but having the right tools and information at your fingertips can make a world of difference.

We at Align Family Law & Mediation are committed to empowering you with valuable resources that will support you every step of the way, whether you are navigating a divorce, mediation, or co-parenting arrangement.

Below you will find key resources and helpful insights to guide your journey.

Family Mediation

Parenting Plans: Creating a comprehensive parenting plan helps structure the child’s schedule and establishes how parents will make decisions in the future. In Oregon, custody determines who makes major decisions about a child's welfare, but it does not dictate parenting time.

Mediation allows parents to discuss:

  • Custody and communication issues

  • Substitute care arrangements

  • Parenting philosophies and guidelines for introducing new partners

  • Vacation, holiday, and special occasion scheduling

  • Special considerations for children under four years old: Birth Through Three Toolkit

Child Finance

Determining child support is a critical aspect of any divorce or separation involving children. Supporting two homes comes with additional expenses, so setting realistic financial expectations is key.

  • Child Support Calculation: Oregon provides a child support calculator to determine fair and balanced payments. We’ll work with you to collect all necessary financial information and run these calculations together.

  • Budget Planning: Use a budget spreadsheet to create a realistic financial plan post-separation.

  • Adjusting Child Support: If needed, you may agree to a different support amount than the state's recommendation by documenting your reasons and submitting this information to the court.

We believe in compassionate advocacy and work diligently to deliver the best outcomes for every client.

With the right guidance and resources, you can build a better path for yourself and your family. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment with us or send us an email at info@align-law.com.

Parent & Child Divorce Education

Completing a Parent Education class is required in Oregon when filing a parenting plan with the court. These programs offer tools and support for co-parents during and after divorce.
